Chief Commercial Officer (CCO)

Location: Netherlands (Remote with travel)

Gardin is a UK (Oxford) based, VC backed tech startup in the Agriculture space. Gardin is transforming horticulture with cutting-edge sensor technology & AI software platform that empowers growers to optimize plant health, reduce inputs (energy, water, fertiliser etc) and increase yields. As we expand rapidly in Northern Europe and North America, we need a Chief Commercial Officer to drive sales, secure large contracts, and establish strong industry partnerships.

You will be a key member of the Gardin executive team with a goal of significantly growing and scaling the commercial team to reach company goals. You have built and grown commercial teams from minimal revenue to millions of dollars of recurring revenue surpassing revenue goals. In the first year, you will be on the front lines, directly selling and negotiating high-value contracts. The ideal candidate is a senior commercial leader who is a good communicator, can roll up their sleeves and thrives on collaborating to deliver long-term revenue growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build a team and execute a multi-year plan to deliver greater than $10m ARR.
  • Work closely with the executive team to prioritize and execute geographic growth priorities. The first important markets are the Netherlands and the United States.
  • Drive direct sales of Gardin's hardware and software solutions, to large growers (horticulture), grower cooperatives and greenhouse builders delivering a minimum of $500K in new revenue in 2025.
  • Manage and expand reseller partnerships to reach goals.
  • Secure large-value recurring contracts with leading greenhouse technology providers.
  • Leverage existing relationships with C-suite executives to increase customer pipeline and surpass revenue goals.
  • Ownership of the commercial goals including business development, sales and marketing to reach agreed goals.
  • Collaborate with the product team to help align customer needs with product development and toward a more self-service sales model.

What We're Looking For

  • Senior Commercial leader with a proven track record in enterprise sales and business development in horticulture, AgTech, or related industries.
  • Grown hardware and SaaS software revenue from early days to multiple millions of dollars of recurring revenue.
  • Grown and/or led commercial teams which include business development, sales account management, and marketing
  • Experienced in delivering commercial growth of technical products (Hardware & SaaS Software).
  • Expert knowledge of the Global Greenhouse market especially our early markets of Netherlands and North America.
  • Strong C-suite network within greenhouse technology companies, large agribusinesses, FMCGs, and government agencies.
  • Ability to personally drive sales and close deals in the first year before building a larger team.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a hands-on approach - comfortable operating solo in the early phase before scaling operations.
  • Experience structuring multi-year contracts and commercial negotiations.
